The 12 Days of Christmas: Recruitment Remix

Recruiting at Christmas eh?

Some love it, some hate it, some feel the need to share their experiences in song. Yep, you guessed it, we’re documenting a recruiter’s stumble through the last 12 days in the office before Christmas.

This is the 12 days of Christmas: Recruitment Remix.

Hold tight, this is guaranteed to be a treat!

On the first day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
A candidate with cold feet

You’re kidding right?

It’s hard enough to recruit in December as it is. Candidates who start getting a little nervous about whether they’re making the right decision is going to blow any chance of commission straight out the window.

It’s going to be a slow two weeks!

On the second day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Two mince pies
And a candidate with cold feet

Good news: someone brought mince pies into the office.
Bad news: the candidate is still taking time to think about their next move.

On the third day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Three interns,
Two mince pies
And a candidate with cold feet

The office is in uproar. The addition of three new interns right on top of Christmas has sent the secret santa planning into disarray. There’s more mince pies though… every cloud!

On the fourth day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies
And a candidate with cold feet

So it has begun, calls to clients are no longer answered. At least it’s bought my nervy candidate a little while longer to think. The interns are loving it, they think recruitment is a bottomless pit of mince pies and not much work… they’ll wise up in January.

On the fifth day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Five tequila shots,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies
And a candidate with cold feet

Oh no! The Christmas drinking has started. Whose idea was it to bring tequila into the office before the Christmas party?

On the sixth day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Six coffees brewing,
Five tequila shots,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies
And a candidate with cold feet

Coffee is needed this morning, the office Christmas party definitely got a little out of hand. The interns tapped out before we’d even begun properly. We’re also a little concerned that our diet is predominantly mince pie based right now… still no reply from the candidate.

On the seventh day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Seven CVs submitted,
Six coffees brewing,
Five tequila shots,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies,
And a candidate with cold feet

Woah! Coming in this morning and seeing seven quality CVs submitted overnight might just be my early Christmas present from the fat man in red. Commission might be on the cards after all. Let’s grab a coffee, two mince pies and pick up the phone…

On the eighth day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Eight heads are hanging,
Seven CVs submitted,
Six coffees brewing
Five tequila shots,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies,
And a candidate with cold feet

Some of the team went out again last night and are hanging big time. Only a few days left, it’s going to be a slow crawl to the end.

Update: the candidate is still not answering my calls.

On the ninth day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Nine craft beers gifted,
Eight heads are hanging,
Seven CVs submitted,
Six coffees brewing,
Five tequila shots,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies,
And a candidate with cold feet

Santa popped by the office today! He’s done a solid and got a set of nine craft beers for everyone. Get in, great effort from the man in red.

On the tenth day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Ten booked meetings,
Nine craft beers gifted,
Eight heads are hanging,
Seven CVs submitted,
Six coffees brewing,
Five tequila shots,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies,
And a candidate with cold feet

Pop open the bubbly, tell Rudolph to get his nose out, we’re ready for Christmas! Ten client meetings booked for the start of January… who said recruiting in December was tough?

On the eleventh day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Eleven pigs in blankets,
Ten booked meetings,
Nine craft beers gifted,
Eight heads are hanging,
Seven CVs submitted,
Six coffees brewing,
Five tequila shots,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies,
And a candidate with cold feet

Just when it couldn’t get more festive in the office (honestly, the tinsel is getting a little out of hand), someone decides to bring in a mountain of pigs in blankets. What more could you want from life?

On the twelfth day of Christmas recruitment gave to me,
Twelve recruiters humming,
Eleven pigs in blankets,
Ten booked meetings,
Nine craft beers gifted,
Eight heads are hanging,
Seven CVs submitted,
Six coffees brewing,
Five tequila shots,
Four unanswered calls,
Three interns,
Two mince pies,
And a candidate with cold feet

So the Christmas music is blaring out in the office, half the team are humming away to it while the other half stuff their faces with mince pies. The candidate has committed to an interview and despite no deals, January is looking pretty hot right now.

It’s been a great month and an even better year!
