The Ultimate Guide to Recruiter Tech

The days of old school recruiting are dead. Technology is advancing at a phenomenal rate and it’s now giving recruiters a helping hand. If you don’t adapt early, you’ll be left behind. There’s nowhere to hide. We get it, recruiters don’t have the time to seek out and adapt to new tools. This is why we’ve brought you The Ultimate Guide to Recruiter Tech. Take a look and see what apps or software you should be making use of. Remember, the industry is constantly changing. Being adaptable to emerging ideas will give you an advantage over the competition.

Apps

So, let’s take a look at the apps which are taking the industry by storm.

LinkedIn Recruiter (iOS/Android)

The king of recruitment apps. If you don’t have this already, you need to get on the app store pronto. The massive pool of candidates and talent on LinkedIn is available at your fingertips. Stay updated with candidates who edit their profiles, apply to your jobs and even new results for saved searches. If you’re serious about recruitment, you really should have this on your phone.

Switch (iOS/Android)

We’ve previously spoken about how recruiting is like Tinder, this makes the comparison altogether more realistic. Switch is quite a new app but it has seen lots of publicity recently. Imagine Tinder but for jobs. Both candidates and recruiters swipe right or left. If you both swipe right then you’ll match and receive an email to open lines of communication. This makes job hunting exciting and fun so expect to see candidates chomping at the bit to get involved.

LunchMeet (iOS)

This is a simple but seriously effective app. In recruitment, meetings offer far more value than a call. This is why LunchMeet will be such a great tool for us. This app allows the user to set up spontaneous lunch meetings with any of their LinkedIn connections.

InstaJob (iOS/Android)

This is a great way to show the culture of your company. Take a picture from your phone and instantly turn it into a visual job ad – perfect for sharing on social media.

The Ladders Recruiter (iOS)

This app allows you to find, contact and review candidate applications on the go. You’ll need a free TheLadders account to access the database.

TalentMgt (iOS/Android)

Like to catch up on the latest rec news? This app will give you access to the latest Talent Management publication as well as three months of back issues – for free!

Adzuna (iOS/Android)

In their own words Adzuna is ‘a search engine for job ads that lists every job, everywhere’.

Video Interviewing Software

Hiring manager pressed for time? Unable to secure an interview time that meets everyone’s availability? Video interviewing software is seeing a big surge in popularity recently. Here’s some of the best video interviewing software.

Hinterview

Hinterview is an up and coming software which is likely to take the industry by storm. This tech allows your agency to take a spec, featuring 5-10 questions to ask the candidate. The candidate screening process is a 2-way video interview which goes on file and is forwarded directly to the hiring manager. The whole process is designed with efficiency in mind – more time for smashing deals!

HireVue

Coming as an app and software package, HireVue offers an exciting concept. Recruiters can design interview questions and then send these to candidates. Candidates then video their answers and share them with the employer.

Sonru

Sonru labels themselves as the ‘pioneer of automated online video interviewing for screening candidates’. This software allows recruiters to ‘replicate a live interview by replacing early-stage phone, Skype of face-to-face interviews’. Interviewers and candidates aren’t online at the same time. This works by allowing an interviewer to set questions, candidates log in and answer questions one at a time as if it were an interview.

Powermeeter

Again, this video software is designed to cut out the time-consuming first stage interview process. Recruiters create questions, invite candidates to answer via email, assess the results and share the videos with the hiring manager.

LaunchPad RECRUIT

LaunchPad RECRUIT lets companies develop branded video assessments, distribute these to large applicant pools and review candidates with ‘pre-defined scoring’.

Software

Every agency will have their own favoured recruitment software. Here are some of the more notable providers.

SourceBreaker

SourceBreaker is a platform for intelligently sourcing the right candidates. Whether you’re a trainee or experienced recruiter, this software will ‘help you find the best candidates faster than the competition.’

TempBuddy

Perfect for any temp recruiters. This is ‘a cloud based real-time workforce management platform’ for contract recruiters. Forget the time consuming admin work, TempBuddy covers everything from finding the right contract workers to digital timesheets.

Bullhorn

Managing the entire recruitment lifecycle from job submission to candidate placement, Bullhorn is a tried and tested software provider.

Mercury XRM

A streamlined CRM recruitment software that’ll help boost productivity. This is another highly praised provider.

Broadbean

Job advert distribution, candidate sourcing and recruitment data management solutions. Another big hitter in the world of recruitment software.
