Cut the Crap… This is the Real Reason We Love Recruitment
We know the feeling. You’ve just come back from a week in the sun or company incentive. The last thing on your mind is sifting through CVs. The slow journey into work is not ideal. Maybe you’re still recovering from the weekend. It’s not going to be a fun day!
We can feel a pep talk brewing!
We know you’re not exactly full of joy about your job right now, but it could always be worse. Let’s get you in gear and back billing.
Forget all the fluff new recruits get fed about the job. Let’s cut the crap and shine a light on the real reasons we love recruitment.
It’s time for a little pick me up…
You’re Here for Yourself
Claiming you’re working in recruitment to help better people’s lives is an easy statement to make with a six figure bank balance and mojito in hand. We all know the real reason we’re here.
We want to better ourselves! We grind all week so we can party on boats at the weekend. We hit call times so we can buy new cars. We’re here for ourselves and that’s just how it should be.
We Rub Shoulders with the Biggest and Best
There aren’t many industries where you can find yourself in meetings with some of the most powerful people in the corporate world.
You can say what you want about recruitment, but there’s no denying how awesome it is to be sipping coffee in the swanky London office of the a Director of a blue chip international corporation.
Respect is Earned, Not Gifted By Birth
We don’t buy into privilege in this industry. You could be the King of Monaco’s son or fresh from your uncle’s market stall, recruitment treats you the same.
Respect is earned through consistent billings and resilience. We’re not like other industries, success here isn’t a birth right. Success comes from hard work and perseverance.
It’s An Addiction
We don’t say this lightly, recruitment is an addiction!
When you’re regularly billing and jetting off on company incentives, you can’t walk away too easily. Once you get started, you just need to feel that rush of a sale again.
Our Banter Won’t Be Beaten
Come on, it’s not exactly a secret.
Recruiters have some of the best banter you’ll find. Those with a sensitive disposition don’t exactly last.
We can take it on the chin too! You won’t find any tears here, it’s all part of the job.
You Get More than Just a Pat on the Back
When you’ve done well in most jobs, you’ll get a congratulatory pat on the back – maybe even an email if you’re lucky.
Let’s face it, kind words only go so far.
In this job, you actually see genuine rewards for your performance. A pat on the back is nice, but an extra couple of grand in your bank is our preferred choice.
It’s Actually Pretty Difficult
Bear with us on this one…
Recruitment is actually pretty tough. Although many consider this a negative, we prefer to take a different opinion.
If you’ve got a masochistic trait and enjoy knock back after knock back, it’s definitely the career for you.
The whole job is based on taking an unmanageable process and trying to control it. If you have the grit required to push and push until you’re successful, the pay-out is huge. It’s like a drug.
You’re Left Alone
When you have a winning formula, you’re left alone to get on with it.
No one cares what you’re doing as long as you’re billing. This is as far from micro-management as you can actually get!
We Always Have Booze
The beer fridge simply doesn’t dry up in recruitment. If there’s one thing recruiters love, it’s a drink at the end of the day.
All the best agencies keep the drinks well stocked. After all, we couldn’t let you guys get thirsty.
There’s Nowhere Better for Fancy Dress!
Who knew that recruiters were competitive?
The sheer drive to outdo everyone in the office when it comes to fancy dress is actually a little scary.
There’s no room for passengers here. The genuine craving to one-up everyone else makes the sales floor on Halloween a boiling pot for costumes even Hollywood would be proud of.
Not Enjoying Recruitment? It Might Not Be Your Fault
Sitting there wondering whether we’re talking about the same industry?
Recruitment can be a horrible job if you’re stuck in the wrong agency. Toxic work environments, tyrant managers and ceilings for progression can make the job seriously draining. It doesn’t have to be that way.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to succeed but haven’t been given the opportunity to make it, we’re here to help you. We only work with the very best candidates and clients.
